Welcome to EC Motel
Situated on South Western Avenue in Los Angeles, EC Motel offers travelers a no-frills stay with practical amenities tailored for budget-conscious guests. Boasting a modest 3.4-star rating, this motel aligns well with its price point, providing the essentials expected from a short-term lodging option near key city landmarks such as the University of Southern California and Downtown LA.
Guests frequently highlight the motel’s clean, functional rooms, which include surprisingly convenient features like a small refrigerator and microwave—amenities not always found at this price level. The addition of both a bathtub and a shower adds flexibility, catering to different preferences during a stay. The beds are noted to be exceptionally comfortable, enhancing rest despite the motel's straightforward design.
While EC Motel does not offer luxuries such as a pool, restaurant, or fitness center, it compensates with free Wi-Fi and complimentary parking, providing solid value for visitors who prioritize cost-efficiency and location over lavish extras. The motel is also kid-friendly, making it suitable for families on a budget.
Customer service experiences appear to vary: front desk staff such as Kristye receive praise for professionalism and helpfulness, contributing positively to guest satisfaction. However, occasional reports mention less favorable interactions with housekeeping, suggesting room for service improvements. The motel's security deposit policy has drawn some critique for being relatively high.
Notably, the motel’s upkeep seems mixed. While many appreciate the cleanliness and recent updates, certain details—like the condition of the air conditioning system—reflect the challenges of maintaining quality at a low price point. This balance is a reminder of the motel’s core identity: efficient, affordable accommodations that serve well as a convenient base for exploring Los Angeles.
In summary, EC Motel presents a pragmatic option for travelers who seek a safe, quiet place to rest without the expectation of luxury. Its proximity to major highways and local amenities such as grocery stores and eateries enhances its appeal for extended stays. While not flawless, it delivers on its promise of affordable comfort with a few thoughtful touches, making it a viable choice for practical-minded visitors to the City of Angels.

Kristye at the front desk was very professional and helpful. She even helped with our bags! The new shower is a huge bonus, and fridge / microwave are definitely appreciated. The filter on the AC was so thick with grime, dust, smog and other things that its compressor was overtaxed so my husband cleaned it - and recovered about a gallon of “grease mixture,” as he put it! So now it works great but we’ve noticed most places don’t check the AC filter which can make folks sick. Other than that, great deal, friendly professional staff and they’re renovating the rooms so it will only get better! (No carpet is a plus!)
The atmosphere is safe and quite, and the rooms are a good size, clean, very affordable, and a Ralph's and Churches Chicken in walking distance. Also, they have EXTREMELY comfortable beds, a bathtub AND a shower (which is awesome), a small fridge AND a microwave (also awesome), and they will let you use their washer and dryer. If you plan to stay for a week or more you can negotiate an even better deal on the price. I LOVE this place (I almost didn't leave a review because I didn't want anyone else to know about this gem,,,)
For the amount of money I paid ($55 if I remember correctly) I have absolutely no complaints. Good location, easy parking... But for that money don't expect much luxury. Only the basics are there. I was positively surprised to see a fridge and a microwave though. The lighting options in the rooms could easily be improved though. There are only ceiling lights in the room and one bathroom light over the sink. The lights are white and don't give any warmth. The bed was comfortable enough and the room was clean. The lady at the desk was nice and pleasing. I had to pay a $50 security deposit (can go up to $150 according to the signs). Even though I understand why, I am not the most comfortable doing so but they did give my money back quickly.
Considering the area that it is located in this place is actually extremely clean and updated. The security deposit is way too high and that's not including your fee for your room. One of the housekeeper is very rude and not polite at all. but the receptionist are very cool and nice and are willing to help with any questions that you may have. The only main issue that I have with this hotel is that they do not accept cash at all
